Author Updates

8.26.24

Happy Monday y’all. August was supposed to be a month for me to relax and get my head straight. I planned on taking a social media break. However, after two weeks, it didn’t end up that way. I came back but in a smaller capacity. I’ve been posting a little bit more, especially on Facebook and Threads. If you follow me over there, you know I don’t post much. I’m more of a social media lurker versus a poster and I am trying to change that. Anyway, I have been working on my upcoming series.

My upcoming series is going to be a three-part series focusing on motherhood and Black women and their place in the world. As you know, sometimes I like to take inspiration from current events. This inspiration comes from the declining birthrate as well as the continued dehumanization of Black women in the world, but especially in American society. It’s science fiction with a little horror and a lot of suspense. I will talk more about this series come November. However, if you join my Patreon, you’ll get updates months-weeks sooner.

Next, I am working on getting everything in order for the Nova: The Executioner of Vanity and …In Sheep’s Clothing paperback books. I’m hoping to release Nova in time for Halloween and Sheep in time for Christmas. Crossing my fingers but being an indie author isn’t cheap and I use a lot of my disposable income to fund my author career. Sometimes I have to prioritize more important, everyday things in my life. Hopefully, in the next year or two, that

won’t be an issue because my author career with be off and popping. Last, I got an idea to do a horror/sci-fi anthology revolving around aliens. The idea came to be last week, and I haven’t been able to get the story out of my head. I have started writing the first story and have about 1500 words so far. Now, if the current story goes past 17.000 words, I will release it as a novella instead. However, I am still far away from that number. Plus, I am going back and forth with myself on the ending.

That’s all the updates I have for now. Don’t forget to check out the dedicated series pages on my site as well as my personal blog, LatrellTalks. I try to post at least two to three times a month.

Talk later.
