Thoughts on Writing My First Erotica

8/5/25

I did it. I wrote my first erotica. I prefer to call it semi-erotica because it is a shorter story and a lot of focus is on the main character’s thoughts. The story’s called The Doctor’s Wife, which is told through the eyes of the doctor. This story came from a dream I had. I like to think that was my mind’s way of telling me to finally do what I said I would do, which is to eventually write in the genre. For days it had been nagging at me until I finally put pen to paper. I believe I did a pretty good job (hyping myself up) for something that is far outside of my comfort zone. I’m used to writing about horror and supernatural creatures/beings, but this was definitely different.

Was I scared? Absolutely! It’s the first time I’ve done something this extreme with my writing. I’ve written a sex scene, or two, but nothing that was so focused on sex. When I was done writing it, I had to sit back and really ask myself, “Did I just write that?” Indeed. I did.

I teetered on whether I wanted to use another pen name or my current one. It was a hasty battle, but I decided that I should use my current one. Eventually, I want Latrell R. Morris to be known for being versatile and for writing in several genres. You never know who’s reading my stuff and may ask me to hop on board their project. Or TV show. A woman can dream, right!

I’m excited about its release and what the future holds for me with my books/writings. This will not be the last erotica you see from me. Remember, I write supernatural creatures, hint hint.

The Doctor’s Wife is being released on August 22.
